Abstract:
This study is intended to assess the effectiveness of engineering ethics in the implementation of engineering projects in Tanzania the case study being Arusha District. The study sought to achieve three specific objectives. These included determinant of the effect of Teleogism on the project performance. Secondly, to assess the effects of Deontologism to the project performance. Finally, the study sought to identify o assess the Virtue ethical theory to the project performance. Data collection was mainly done using questionnaires, and analysis of relevant documents. Questionnaires were administered to the relevant stakeholders. The quantitative data gathered through questionnaires was presented and analyzed by the use of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) program through descriptive statistical methods. Nevertheless, inferential statistics (multiple regression analysis) were involved to establish the relationship between constructs. Results revealed that independent variables (Teleogism, Deontologism as well as Virtue ethics) were statistically significant joint predictorsof project performance in Tanzania. Also, all independent variables were found to uniquely, significantly and positively influence the performance of the project, except for virtue ethic which were not significant over the study period. Therefore, the study concluded that, engineering ethics have a positive and significant effect on the performance of the project. Authorised department should emphasize the effectiveness and importance of ethical factors and their effects as practiced by engineers and its impact to the performance of engineering projects implementation in Tanzania.
