Abstract:
The study investigated the Effects of Operational Management Practices in Telecommunication
Operations and Maintenance Firms on Performance in Tanzania. The study used descriptive
survey research design and quantitative research approach. Simple random sampling was used in
selecting respondents. Data were collected using closed ended questionnaires and analyzed
using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression. Findings from this study revealed that
О&M Teleсоmmuniсаtiоn firms had operational departments which were responsible to ensure
that quality management is well maintained, the design of services are well planned, work flow
and job designs are supportive to the company, process and capacity of design were well
maintained, well placed facility location, effective and timely maintained, a well-established supply
chain management, proper scheduling, proper inventory management as well as effective layout
strategy. The study found that operations management in О&M Teleсоmmuniсаtiоn firms
promoted the organization performance. The study concluded that rent for О&M
Teleсоmmuniсаtiоn firms’ facilities affected the maximum operations and the organization
performance in general. It is concluded that О&M Teleсоmmuniсаtiоn firms’ operations
management’ department has effective units to promote their operations. The units include; well
established supply chain management, proper inventory management as well as effective layout
strategy. The study concluded that О&M Teleсоmmuniсаtiоn firms had specific, a well-established
customer service, and satisfaction strategies. These strategies strengthened the trust from their
customers thus organization performance was enhanced. The study recommend that О&M
Teleсоmmuniсаtiоn firms should invest in training their employees on quality programs so that
they understand explicitly the quality issues for their performance of the company
