Abstract:
The Research, Reference and Reserve Section deals with assistance of clients to access information in the library's collection and from other sources, and to make the best selection from the collection. The research Section is attached to serves two complementary purposes: to support the curriculum, and to support the research of the Institute faculty and students.
Today academic libraries typically provide access to subscription-based online resources, including research databases and e-Books collections, in addition to physical books and journals.
To attain all these, the Research and Reference Section at IAA Library provides Information Literacy instruction (User training) to library user to facilitate the use of library resources particularly in research and reference point of view.
We provide instruction on how to explore the following services:
Subscribed Electronic Resources, internet search engines and information Gateways, how to search Materials and the like.
Ask librarian Service, Ask Librarian is a collaborative virtual reference service that connects students, faculty members, and researchers from participating Institute library across IAA with real-time library and research assistance through chat.
With assistance of Librarians, IAA library Users can access a vast amount of e-resources from various subscribed and other online information sources.
WHY USE E-RESOURCES
Unlike searching on the Internet through search engines like Google, all resources within these database are evaluated and they are widely considered to be the most suitable sources in academic context because they offer access to quality, reliable and authoritative information.
ACCESS TO THE SUBSCRIBED E-RESOURCES
In order to access the subscribed e-resources, library users need to be on campus where they will be connected to the Local Area Wireless Network.
For Off-campus Users- special credentials will be required so as to get access to resources, these credentials are only given to students and staff.
