The main objective of this study was to investigate the factors affecting product quality in
manufacturing industries, a case of Tanelec Limited – Arusha. Specifically, this study determined
the effect of supplier selection on the quality of product in manufacturing industries, analyzed the
effect of supplier development on product quality in manufacturing industries and assessed the
effect of government quality agencies on product quality in manufacturing industries. This study
employed quantitative approaches and descriptive design. Purposive and simple random samplings
were employed during the study. Data were collected by using questionnaire and document review.
Validity and reliability of the data were tested using the Cronbach’s Alpha, KMO and Bartlett's Test.
SPSS version 25 was used to process data. Moreover, Data collected were analyzed using
inferential statistics. Study findings unveiled that Supplier selection, Supplier Development and
Government Quality Agencies have great impact on Product Quality. Thus the study recommends
that, manufacturing industries should embrace more Supplier audits. It’s through time to time
supplier audits, manufacturing firms will be able to get the best and reliable supplier in the market.
Moreover, the findings unveiled that supplier selection done objectively aids to company’s
competitive advantages win, such wins includes; customer satisfaction, strong and reputable bland
image. In addition to that, the study found out that the supplier development helps manufacturing
industries to align their production plans with their supplier. In addition to that, it helps much in
innovation and coming up with design that suits customer needs.
On the other hand, the issue of government quality agencies was found out to be crucial as these
agencies controls and oversees the overall production process, quality of the materials being used
thus giving an assurance of the products qualities |
