dc.description.abstract The study was meant to assess factors that affect Sustainability of rural water supply in Tanzania. The study conducted in Buhigwe district at Kigoma region. Specific tasks of this research were to examine the effects of funding on water project Sustainability of rural water supply; to assess the effects of stakeholder' ' involvement on water project Sustainability; to determine the effects of project staff competencies on water project Sustainability. The study conducted using Cross-sectional research design with qualitative and quantitative approaches. The sample size of this study was 300 respondents and simple random employed to choose sample. Tools used to collect data were questionnaire, interview and documentary review. Data analyzed using descriptive statistics, inferential statistics in Version 26.0. The findings showed that level of funding is positive correlated with Sustainability of rural water project. The findings showed that a correlation of (r (300) = 0.777; p<0.05) between level of funding and Sustainability of rural water project at Buhigwe District The study established that Stakeholder' Involvement is positive correlated with Sustainability of rural water project at Buhigwe District The findings showed also that a correlation of (r (300) = 0.686; p<0.05) between the Stakeholder ' Involvement and Sustainability of rural water project Buhigwe District The study established further that project staff competencies are positive correlated with Sustainability of rural water project at Buhigwe District The findings showed that a correlation of (r (300) = 0.535; p<0.05) between the project staff competencies and Sustainability of rural water project. The study concluded that the sustainability of government-funded water projects implemented at Buhigwe district are sustainable due to the existing presence of funds, presence of community participation and existence of competence among project staff and contractors. The study recommended that there is the need to increase participation of the community, training to project staff and increase participation of the government in the implementation of projects. en_US
