dc.description.abstract Land conflict resolution bodies in Tanzania do not seem to meet the expectations of the people in as far as resolving land disputes with the aim of creating peace and security among the litigants and in the community is concerned. This study was conducted within Bukoba District as a case study, with the objectives of identifying the main challenges faced by land conflict resolution bodies in Bukoba District, assessing the people’s perception on the efficiency of land conflicts resolution bodies which are ward tribunals, District land and housing Tribunals and the High Court (land Division) in resolving land conflicts, and identifying peace and security threats which result from the ineffectiveness of the land conflicts resolution bodies. The sample size of this study was selected using purposive and convenience sampling techniques. The questionnaire and interview discussions were used to collect data and content analysis was used to analyze the data collected from participants . Findings from this study reported that, the inefficiency of land conflict resolution bodies, poses a serious threat to peace and security in Bukoba District thereto recommending for training for Ward Tribunal members, community legal awareness, addressing issues that creates people’s mistrust on land conflict resolution bodies and strengthening human resources in all land conflict resolution bodies to ensure timely and efficient case handling. en_US
