This study evaluates the effectiveness of counter-terrorism strategies in Nanyamba
District Council, Tanzania. It aims to assess the implemented measures, analyze
security strategies, and identify challenges. Focusing on Nanyamba District in
Mtwara Region, the study combines qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze
current strategies and challenges, with a focus on community engagement and
vulnerable populations. It provides recommendations for enhancing counter-
terrorism measures and regional security cooperation. Despite limitations like budget
constraints and respondent reluctance, the research offers valuable insights into
improving internal security and regional collaboration. The study uses a sequential
explanatory design to integrate quantitative data with qualitative insights. The study
highlights strong support for counter-terrorism strategies like screening, patrols, and
intelligence services, with respondents noting their high effectiveness. Challenges
include inadequate funding, training, and resources. Recommendations include
increasing resources, investing in modern equipment, and improving training.
Reliability analysis shows high internal consistency, and regression analysis
indicates that effective intelligence services and policy reviews significantly impact
counter-terrorism, with an R² of 0.67 showing a strong model fit. The study
concludes that screening, patrols, and intelligence services are essential for effective
counter-terrorism. However, persistent challenges such as inadequate funding,
insufficient training, and resource shortages hinder their full implementation. To
address these issues, the study recommends increasing resource allocation, investing
in modern equipment, and implementing comprehensive training programs for
security personnel. Additionally, it emphasizes the need for regular policy reviews
and strengthening intelligence services to enhance counter-terrorism efforts.
Regression analysis shows that these measures substantially improve overall security
