dc.description.abstract The main objective of this study was to investigate the impact of mining in Tanzania, with a specific focus on the Mererani-Arusha Region. Mining plays a crucial role in Tanzania's economy, providing employment and contributing significantly to the country's GDP. However, alongside the positive developments, the growth of the mining sector in Arusha has also raised concerns about its potential negative consequences. One of the foremost concerns is related to the environmental impact of mining activities. To achieve the results, both primary and secondary data was collected and analyzed. A mixed-methods approach was employed to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing the mining sector in Mererani - Arusha Region. The study population consisted of 693 individuals, from whom 128 respondents were drawn using the (Cochran, 1963) formula (n= N/(1 +N e2)).The study used questionnaires to collect data that were analyzed using descriptive statistics analysis. The key findings of the study revealed that the mining company did not play a critical role in enhancing the environmental and socio economic conditions of mining community in Mererani-Arusha. The study recommends the government, the surrounding communities and other development stakeholders to join their efforts in eradicating environmental, social and economic challenge in the study area. Also, the mining companies have mechanisms in place to track their own productivity and financial performance, but they lack the mechanisms to assess their community relationships. It is thus advisable that they prioritize regular community satisfaction assessme en_US
