ABSTRACT
This study investigates the influence of nonperforming loans on the women, youth, and people with
disabilities’ fund in Chamwino District Council--Dodoma, Tanzania aimed at looking into three
objectives. One of which was to examine the causes of nonperforming loans on women, youth and
people with disabilities’ fund, secondly was to assess the effect of nonperforming loans on women,
youth and people with disabilities’ fund, and lastly was to identify the method used to tackle
nonperforming loans on women, youth and people with disabilities fund. All these objectives were
focused in Local Government Authority: A Case of Chamwino District Council—Dodoma, Tanzania.
A mixed-methods approach involving surveys and interviews with the respective groups was
utilized. Findings reveal that limited access to educational resources contributes to 65% of
nonperforming loans among women, while 78% of youth non-repayments result from the absence
of sustainable income-generating activities. Discrimination and societal prejudices lead to 55% of
nonperforming loans among People with disabilities. The study emphasizes the necessity for
targeted interventions addressing education, income generation, and societal attitudes to mitigate
the causes of nonperforming loans among vulnerable groups. Statistical analysis highlights
increased financial vulnerability for Women (82%), hindered socio-economic advancement for
Youth (75%), and intensified financial struggles for People with disabilities (60%) due to
nonperforming loans. Stakeholder responses suggest the effectiveness of legal actions (68%) and
the empowering role of education (72%) in deterring non-repayment. However, perceived inclusivity
gaps (58% Women, 63% Youth, 55% People with disabilities) underscore the need for tailored
strategies to address demographic-specific challenges. The study recommends implementing
comprehensive education programs, exploring individual loans, and incorporating regular check-ins
for a more equitable and effective approach to financial empowerment programs
