dc.description.abstract This research study aimed to assess the effectiveness of leadership in business organization, a case study of NMB Bank Plc Arusha Branches, and how effective leadership impacted the business performance positively or negatively in different phenomenon on the growth of small, medium and large business organization. Difference researches addressed this phenomenon and traditionally adopted a few approaches such as leadership traits, skills, attitudes and behaviors. This dissertation research found the gap in the literature adopted an integrative perspective of the leadership theories. The study comprised of a qualitative study approach which gave the researcher with meaningful insights on the research topic and results of other findings, this study achieved to explore more on the attributes/factors that contributes to effectiveness of leadership on business environment, the study also examined on the different leadership theories that favor or contribute to effectiveness of leadership in business that contributed to the exceptional business performance of the organization. And finally the study assessed the common critical challenges that impacted the effectiveness of leadership in business. The study revealed that, a clear direction of vision and mission of the organization given by the leader is of very crucial in aspect of innate leader, consistence application of bank procedures and policies being one of attribute to effectiveness of leadership. It also found that leaders needed to create opportunities for open feedback and takes that positively. Furthermore, the study found that leaders in business organization needed to build a culture of frequent or regular communication, giving the freedom of asking for feedback given, also to provide environment for professional training through appreciation. The study recommended that, a leader has to lead himself, only then he can lead others. He must be committed on personal and professional front, and must be responsible. He must be a role model for others to learn and set an example for them. en_US
