dc.description.abstract This study assessed the factors influencing price rises of maize food in Tanzania, focusing on Arusha City Council. Specifically, the study aimed to: examine the impact of supply dynamics on price rises of maize food in Tanzania., investigate the influence of transportation costs on the price rises of maize food in Tanzania, and analyze the effect of market competition on price rises of maize food in Tanzania. The study employed a quantitative design, grounded in positivist philosophy, which emphasizes objective measurements and observable phenomena. A random sampling technique was used to select participants, ensuring representation from various stakeholder groups, including farmers, traders, and consumers within the Arusha region. Data were collected through structured questionnaires distributed to the selected participants. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to summarize respondents' views and multiple regression analysis to identify relationships between the identified factors and price rises. The findings revealed that supply dynamics significantly impacted maize food prices, with increased supply leading to price stabilization. Transportation costs were found to contribute substantially to price rises, primarily due to inadequate infrastructure and rising fuel prices. Additionally, market competition played a crucial role, with increased competition generally associated with lower prices. The study concluded with recommendations for improving food pricing stability, including enhancing transportation infrastructure, promoting fair market competition, and implementing policies that address supply chain inefficiencies. By addressing these factors, the study aimed to contribute to a better understanding of food pricing dynamics in Tanzania and ultimately improve food security in the region. en_US
