dc.description.abstract This research aims to assess the effectiveness of trade unions in safeguarding and advancing the interests of employees, with a focus on the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC). The study sought to understand the role of trade unions in advocating for employees' rights, improving working conditions, and facilitating effective communication between the workforce and the management, It utilized a qualitative approach incorporating interviews and survey questionnaires as distributed among KCMC employees to gather qualitative data on their perceptions on the role of trade unions' in organizations, Clearly, the in-depth interviews with union representatives, management personnel, and employees provided intense insights into the dynamics of the relationship between trade unions, employees as well as the employer. The key areas of concern were the union activities and advocacy that evaluated the range and effectiveness of activities undertaken by trade unions in promoting employees' interests, including negotiations, grievance handling, and advocacy for fair labor practices. Also it was concerned with employee satisfaction that measured employee satisfaction levels with the representation and services provided by trade unions, considering factors such as job security, compensation, and working conditions. Again, it examined the effectiveness of communication channels between trade unions, management, and employees, and assess their impact on resolving workplace issues. Nevertheless, it looked on the challenges and opportunities that identified challenges faced by trade unions in advocating for employees and explore potential opportunities for enhancing their effectiveness, The study proved critical significance in understanding the effectiveness of trade unions as crucial for both the employees and the management at KCMC. The findings can contribute to informed decision- making, fostering a harmonious work environment and promoting the overall well-being of the workforce. The research anticipates providing insights into the strengths and weaknesses of trade union involvement at KCMC, offering recommendations for improvements in their role in promoting employees' interests. This study not only addresses a critical aspect of organizational dynamics but also contributes to the broader discourse on the effectiveness of trade unions in healthcare settings, potentially informing policies, and practices in similar institutions, en_US
