Abstract:
The study investigates influence of HRM practices on employee retention in the conservation area
iluthorities. The study is specific to appraise the influence of compensation practices on employee
retention at NCAA, determine the influence of training and development on employee retention at
NCAA and evaluate the influence of rewarding systems on employee retention at NCAA as guided
byHuman capital theory. Data were collectedusing thequestionnaire and interview reviewwith a
sample sizeof 188 from a pupation of 733 employees at NCAAfrom departments namely tourism
conservation and community development(400) and cooperate services (333). This study used
convergent mixed method design that favours the use of mixed research approach. It used
stratified sampling techniques. Quantitative data were analyzed with help of Statistical Package
for Social Sciences (SPSS-Version 22), using frequencies and percentages. Qualitative interview
data were analysed based themes. Findings were the rewarding system emerged as a crucial
factor contributing significantly to employee retention, substantiating the significance of
acknowledgment and appreciation in the workplace. Also the respondents generally agreed with
the positive influence of HRM practices on employee retention. The average means revealed that
the respondents strongly agreed with the influence of the rewarding system (2.03012) and
demonstrated a slightly lower but favorable agreement regarding the contribution of compensation
(1.84459) and training and development (1.90723) to employee retention. Additionally, the
average mean for retention itself was 2.0693, indicating a relatively positive stance towards
employee retention within the NCAA. In conclusion, implementing effective rewarding systems
that acknowledge and appreciate employees' contributions is paramount in fostering a sense of
value and motivation, ultimately enhancing retention rates. While compensation and training and
development also play significant roles, it is essential for NCAA to focus on optimizing their
rewarding systems to ensure a committed and satisfied workforce, the study recommends
enhancing rewarding systems and investing in employee growth and skills, NCAA to foster a
contented and motivated workforce, ultimately resulting in heightened retention rates. Striking the
right balance in compensation packages to meet industry standards is also highlighted as a vital
aspecttoattractandretaintoptalentwithintheorganization.
