Abstract:
The general objective of this study was to examine the influence of training and development
on employee satisfaction in Tanzania using National Microfinance Bank (NMB) Plc Bariadi
branch as its case study. Specific objectives were to find out the impact of employee training on
job satisfaction; to determine the hindrances of the Implementation of training programmes at
work places; and to propose effective measures to be taken to improve training programmes
during its implementation in fostering employee job satisfaction. The study used a case study
design to examine the influence of training and development on employee satisfaction. The
research approach used was a qualitative research approach. Data were collected using
interviews, questionnaire and documentary review. Quantitative data which were collected
through questionnaire were organized, coded and entered into social science Statistical
Package (SPSS V20) and analyzed descriptively. In the process, data were also presented in
table's forms with frequencies and percentages calculated for drawing conclusions. Findings of
the study revealed that majority of respondents strongly agreed that training and development
improved performance, The study concluded that training and development were important; a
number of factors hindered implementation of training programs; if properly allocated
organizational resources could be used to promote employee job satisfaction.
