dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to assess the role of force account method in public sector on project implementation a case study of Bukoba Municipal Council. The study was conducted to identify the contribution of force account on project implementation, examine the level of value attained to the public sector project by implementing a force account, and to examine the level of managerial competence in executing force account. In this study, data were collected using questionnaires and interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed through descriptive statistics and qualitative data were analyzed through content analysis. The research sheds light of force account practices on effective project implementation, particularly in the context of attaining value for money, addressing budget-related delays, adherence to guidelines, and the level of technical deficiency. Notably, the majority of respondents perceived a moderate influence of force account practices on achieving value for money, with significant contributions from budget considerations and adherence to guidelines. The study also emphasizes the critical role of effective communication with stakeholders, the availability of professional staff, and the knowledge and skills of force account implementers in mitigating technical deficiencies and ensuring successful project execution. Based on these findings, it is recommended that project stakeholders prioritize effective communication strategies, invest in professional development for staff, and continually enhance the knowledge and skills of force account implementers. Additionally, measures to minimize political interference and promote transparency within project committees should be implemented. The study suggests that ongoing efforts to strengthen managerial competence and resource allocation are crucial for efficient project management. Overall, the positive aspects of force account practices underscore the importance of imposing this mechanism for enhanced cost effectiveness and local development in public sector projects en_US
