Abstract:
This research study has been investigating the contribution of mobile banking services to economic
growth in Tanzania by taking Mkuranga District Council as a case study. The study used economic
growth as a dependent variable and the contribution of mobile banking services as an independent
variable. This study used a descriptive research design. The researcher used a simple random
sampling technique to select samples for representation in the study. They also used 157 samples,
which included all employees of NMB Mkuranga District Council. Secondary data was employed in
this study. The analysis of data is based on descriptive correlation. The study findings indicate that
most of the respondents who are employees of NMB do understand how mobile banking services
contribute to the economic growth of NMB when they use mobile banking. The study findings indicate
that most of the respondents, who are employees of NMB, have admitted that the usage and
administration of mobile banking services are so simple that they can be used in an easy way. The
study findings indicate that most of the respondents who are NMB’s employees have accepted that
it is very efficient to use mobile banking services as their mode of payment in the organisation as it
increases transparency and efficiency. The study concluded that the use of mobile banking can
positively increase and improve economic growth while also improving timely transactions. The study
is about the contribution of mobile banking services to economic growth. As per the nature of this
study, there is a need for technology in order to facilitate its use, and customers and taxpayers need
to be convinced of a good network for them to continue using the mobile network. Mobile banking
services also improve the cost-effectiveness for customers, as it is also simple to use the services.
Therefore, the study recommended that NMB, with the help of the government, highly emphasise the
usage of mobile banking services. The study recommends that NMB management and the
government, in general, should place a high emphasis on the use of mobile banking services
