dc.description.abstract ABSTRACT This study examined the factors affecting contract management for procurement services in Public Sectors. Specifically, the study assessed how key challenges hinder contract management performance for procurement services in public sectors, how staff knowledge level to relate to contract management for procurement services in public sectors, and how factors influencing effectiveness of contract management for procurement services inpublic sectors. With the aid of a questionnaire, the data was collected from 85 TANESCO employees and contractor/suppliers. The data analysis was facilitated by descriptive (percentages) and Chi - square test analysis techniques. The study found that from descriptive analysis, about 51.48% of respondents agreed to large extent that key challenges hinder contract management for procurement services in Public sectors while the rest reported to some extent (43.13%) and not at all (5.49%) Regarding factors influencing effectiveness of contract management for procurement services in public sectors, 46.93% of respondents were strongly, while the rest reported the effect to be agreed (34.95%), somehow agreed (12%), disagreed (0.84%) and no comment (5.28%). From the chi square test, the study shows that there was a significant relationship between staff knowledge level and contract management where x2=4.338 with a significance p -value of 0.034 which was less than 0.05. The findings imply that, the probability of contract management for procurement services in public sectors depended on knowledge. Therefore, staff knowledge level can affect contract management for procurement services in public sectors. The study recommends for TANESCO to continue investing improving their staff in managing contracts by ensure availability of Trainings, workshop, seminars and control challenges to company performance. en_US
