Abstract:
This research investigates the potential threats posed by illegal immigrants to national security in
Tanzania, focusing on the Manyara region. The study aims to analyze the extent to which illegal
immigration impacts national security, with an emphasis on socio-economic factors, criminal activities
and potential destabilization. Employing a mixed-methods approach, both quantitative and qualitative
data were collected through surveys, interviews and data analysis. Findings reveal multifaceted
challenges, including strain on local resources, increased crime rates and potential vulnerabilities in
border control. The study underscores the need for comprehensive policies and coordinated efforts
to address these threats while maintaining humanitarian considerations. This research contributes to
the understanding of illegal immigration’s implication for national security and provides
recommendations for safeguarding the integrity of Tanzania’s borders and societal well-being.
The findings showed that the country security is still in danger due to the several threats posed by
illegal immigrants including increasing crimes, terrorism, societal disruption, drug smuggling and other
criminal activities. It is recommended that, Government of Tanzania should formulate both
Immigration and security Policies to address the matter, review all laws and regulations related to
immigration services, provide civic education to natives, to increase working facilities, enhance routine
patrols and operations for immigration officers all over’s.
