Abstract:
It is clear that government projects of a country plays an important role in social, political, and
economic stability of an economy. For instance, road transport is still playing an important role in
movement of people and freights to and from different parts of the world respectively. The main
objective of the study was to investigate the influence of stakeholder’s participation on the
implementation of government project in Tanzania. The study was guided by three specific
objectives. One was to investigate the influence of stakeholder’s participation on project
implementation in Tanzania. Second was to investigate the influence of fund availability on project
implementation in Tanzania and lastly was to examine the influence of project team competence
on project implementation in Tanzania. The questionnaires data were collected from 60 sample
respondent, however, only 42 questionnaires were returned for data analysis. The data was
analysed using descriptive statistic, frequencies, graphs and tables. The study findings shows that,
project funding influence implementation of government projects in Tanzania to a very great extent
and was funded to finance running of projects. Moreover, the finding has indicated that,
stakeholder’s participation influenced implementation of government projects in Tanzania to a very
great extent and that for any organization to achieve a stated goal it must bring all stakeholders
including the community on board. Nevertheless to that, the project team competence was found
to influence the performance of the projects to a very great extent. The researcher recommended
that, government should provide the necessary resources and facilities for project management
without under budgeting. This will facilitate effective implementation of project management.
