dc.description.abstract Conflict in organizations has become normal equation in organization workplace environment because employees contest for authority, position, recognition, and scarce resources. This study was conducted with the aims of assessing the effects of conflict management techniques on the performance of the Tanzania Fire and Rescue Force of Arusha. This study adopted quantitative research approach under descriptive research design. A population of 98 officers from the Tanzania Fire and Rescue Force of Arusha were involved in filling the questionnaire forms. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with the help of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS v.26). The findings of this study reported that, there exists all the three natures of conflict i.e. communicational or data conflicts; personal conflicts; and structural conflicts. With regard to the conflict management techniques that are used by the Tanzania Fire and Rescue Force of Arusha; the management of the Tanzania Fire and Rescue Force in Arusha employ the combination of all the five conflict management techniques (i.e. avoidance, competing, accommodating, compromising and collaborating) in dealing with conflicts and finally, conflict avoidance and dominating techniques have strong and significant effects on performance of the Tanzania Fire and Rescue Force in Arusha; compromising technique has a moderate and significant effects on performance of the Tanzania Fire and Rescue Force in Arusha; while accommodating and collaborating techniques have a weak and insignificant effects on the performance of the Tanzania Fire and Rescue Force in Arusha. The study recommends that, the management of Tanzania Fire and Rescue Force in Arusha should conduct regular meetings between the management and staffs, this will help the management to know the problems facing the staffs as a result occurrence of conflict can be minimized and also, there should be clear and well known vision and mission of the Tanzania Fire and Rescue Force, clear rules and regulations, roles and responsibilities of both senior and junior officers in order to avoid the possibilities of rising of conflicts. en_US
