Abstract:
The study assessed key performance indicators in the prevention of unlawful immigration. The
study was guided by the following research objectives: - to identify the immigration personnel
performance indicators on the prevention of unlawful immigrants, to examine the control
equipment standards on the prevention of unlawful immigrants and to determine the compliance
of regulatory framework on the prevention of unlawful immigrants. The study employed mixed
research approach where cross sectional research degn was employed. However, the sample
size of 92 respondents was utilized. In due regard, thematic and SPSS as data analysis
techniques were employed. The results underscore the pivotal role of immigration personnel in
border security and the need for continuous skill development to enhance their effectiveness.
Control equipment standards are viewed positively by respondents, emphasizing their
significance in bolstering border security and deterring unlawful immigration. Advanced
technology and ICT facilities are seen as valuable tools for improving detection and tracking,
highlighting the importance of technological infrastructure in immigration control efforts. The
study concludes that, compliance with the regulatory framework is considered crucial in
deterring unlawful immigration, with respondents perceiving a high level of compliance. The
study recommends that, It is essential to invest in continuous training programs to further
enhance their skills and capabilities. Regular training sessions should focus on the latest
immigration control techniques, cultural awareness, and emerging threats to ensure immigration
personnel remain well-prepared for their critical responsibilities.
