Abstract:
The purpose of the study was to assess the Impact of e-Procurement on Public Procurement
Processes and Transparency in Tanzania: A Case of Tanzania National Roads Agency
(TANROADS) Simiyu Region This study was in quantitative and qualitative nature. This study
adopted case study design to assess the impact of electronic procurement in reducing corruption
practices. Questionnaires and interviews were used for data collection. Simple random sampling
technique was used to select respondents from the entire population. A sample size of 79 of
employees was drawn from the study population. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze data
collected from the respondents.
Empirical evidence from the study revealed that e-Procurement has contributed to the achievement
of a wide range on Public Procurement Processes and Transparency. In this study substantial
portion believes that transparency has improved to some extent, there are also concerns raised by
those who think it hasn't improved significantly or has even decreased. The findings of the study
shows that the majority of respondents believe that the introduction of e-procurement has helped in
reducing corruption in public procurement processes. It found that, a significant portion of
respondents believes that e-procurement has enhanced accountability in public procurement at
TANROADS Simiyu Region. This indicates a generally positive view on accountability. Generally
according to study e-Procurements have improved fairness, transparency and accountability in
government which leads to achieve value for money, efficiency, economy and effectiveness on
procured Government Projects
