ABSTRACT
The revitalization of historical sites in Unguja Island faces challenges in the effective utilization of renewable
energy. The purpose was to identify and address issues impeding the successful implementation of such
projects. This study employed a descriptive research design and a mixed research method approach to
investigate these hindrances. Through the administration of structured questionnaires and interviews with
100 respondents, the research revealed that effective project management, encompassing adherence to
schedules, alignment with project goals, and consistency with initial plans, played a crucial role in project
success. Additionally, factors such as efficient resource utilization, proactive problem-solving, and quality
workmanship were identified as contributing to successful project completion. Notably, delays in obtaining
permits, insufficient funding, and coordination challenges emerged as significant obstacles. Managerial
competence was found to be pivotal in securing skilled labor, engaging experienced contractors, and
implementing innovative technologies. The study concludes with recommendations aimed at streamlining
permit processes, increasing budget allocations, enhancing stakeholder communication, conducting
thorough feasibility studies, and investing in personnel development to improve historical site renovation
projects in Unguja Island
