| dc.description.abstract | The general objective of this study is to assess the technical and financial viability of transforming a diesel power to solar power in water supply schemes. Three objectives were to evaluate the financial viability of the transformation by conducting a detailed cost-benefit analysis, to determine the technical feasibility of integrating solar power into the existing diesel-powered water supply scheme and to analyze the reliability and performance aspects of the proposed solar-powered water supply scheme. The population of the study was 423 people in which 81 of people were the sample that used to obtain data from RWASA Kilosa The questionnaires and interview were the tools used for collecting data from RUWASA while descriptive and content analysis were employed for analyzing data. The result found that, there is financial viability of the transformation by conducting a detailed cost-benefit analysis, technical feasibility of integrating solar power into the existing diesel powered water supply scheme and reliability and performance aspects of the proposed solar powered water supply scheme at RUWASA Kilosa. The study further recommends that, due to the importance of solar power water supply to the community both private and public sectors should support through providing fund and technical skills in the development of transforming from diesel power to solar power to enhance efficiency water supply scheme at RUWASA | en_US |
