dc.description.abstract The research, titled "Assessment of Sustainable Procurement in Achieving Construction Projects: The Case of Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission (TAEC) in Arusha," endeavors to investigate the degree to which sustainable procurement practices are realized within the construction projects conducted by the Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission. The study was carried out at the headquarters of TAEC, situated in Arusha, Tanzania. The research involved a sample of 60 respondents drawn from various departments, including the procurement department, to provide insights and perspectives on the implementation of sustainable procurement practices. Primary data for the study was collected through a combination of interviews and questionnaires administered to the selected respondents. Additionally, secondary data was collected through the documentary method, involving the examination of pertinent documents, reports, and records associated with TAEC's construction projects and procurement activities. The collected data was subsequently analyzed to assess the extent to which sustainable procurement principles are integrated into the commission's construction projects. The study found a relatively low adoption of sustainable procurement practices within public institutions in Tanzania. To address this gap, the study recommends a collective effort, including awareness-raising initiatives and the allocation of budgets for sustainable products, to bolster sustainable procurement practices within TAEC and the broader construction sector in Tanzania. These measures hold the potential to pave the way for increased sustainability in procurement and its positive impact on construction projects en_US
