dc.description.abstract |
This study aimed on assessment of the influence of human factors on security of electronic health records in Tanzania public hospitals. The study specifically assessed the user's perception of security in security of electronic health records, data mishandling practices in electronic health records and influence of security culture on security of electronic health records in Tanzania public hospitals. The study was conducted at Mount Meru Regional Referral hospital in Arusha. Descriptive research design was used. Purposive sampling was used to select a sample of 75 staff which is Medical Doctors, Nurses, Hospital IT officers, Pharmacists, Lab. Technicians, administrators and Records officers. Qualitative and quantitative research approaches were used. Quantitative data was analyzed using SPSS software and qualitative data was analyzed using inductive approach. The findings of this study showed that user's perceptions had negative influence on security of electronic health records, data mishandling practices had negative influence on security of electronic health records and security culture had negative influence on security of electronic health records. The study concluded that human factors are influencing security of electronic health records. The study recommended on the regular training of user's to build a good security culture and to improve their security perceptions, proper data handling practices and implementation of well-defined security policies. |
