ABSTRACT
Intenal supervision of the projects within an organization plays a crusial role in influencing their
successful implementation. This study examined the effect of internal supervision on project
implementation. Its specific objectives included examining the internal supervision plan on
project implementation at World Vision, examining the effect of the internal supervision practices
on project implementation at World Vision and determining the factors that influence the quality
of internal supervision on project implementation at World Vision. The theories adopted by the
study were Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory and Herzberg's Two Factor Theory. This study
used a mixed research approach, and purposeful sampling was used. Also, the study used a
cross-sectional design. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews. The sample
size for this study was 70. Then, Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22 was
used for the analysis of data. It involved the use of multiple linear regression modal and
descriptive statistics such as frequencies and percentages, which are presented in tables. The
results revealed that the effect of the internal supervision plan is as indicated by the p-value of
0.479, which does not have a significant impact on project implementation. The effect of internal
supervision practices was, as indicated by the p-value of 0.003, that have a significant impact
on project implementation. The quality of internal supervision was indicated by the p-value of
0.0018, which has a significant impact on project implementation. The study concluded that
World Vision should capacitate more employees and beneficiaries as internal supervisors of the
projects in order to implement the projects through joint efforts between the organisation and
beneficiaries. Furthermore, the study recommended that in order for a project to be successfully
implemented through internal supervision, issues like leadership skills, effective communication
skills, effective follow-ups of project quality standards and well-set goals and objectives should
be put forth by the organisation.
