Abstract:
The research aimed to investigate the impact of the force account procurement
method on the performance of construction projects in Tanzania. Specifically, the
study focused on assessing the degree to which this procurement method contributed
to the quality, cost-effectiveness, and time management of construction projects. A
quantitative approach was employed to thoroughly examine the research problem,
complemented by qualitative methods to provide additional insights. The study
participants included construction personnel, procurement officers, and project
stakeholders (Procurement Department) involved in public office construction projects
at MUST. The findings indicated that the force account method significantly enhances
quality output, while demonstrating moderate effectiveness in terms of cost and time
management in construction projects. In conclusion, the study recommends that
project managers employ rigorous inspection, close monitoring, and assessment
during project execution to ensure and uphold quality. It is suggested that the force
account procurement method has a moderate influence on the performance of
construction projects in Tanzania.
