dc.description.abstract ABSTRACT To examine the impact of motivation on job performance of teachers in public secondary schools in Arusha City Council. Specific objectives were; to determine the impact of intrinsic motivation factors on job performance teachers in public secondary schools, to ascertain the impact of extrinsic motivation factors on job performance teachers in public secondary schools and to evaluate motivation strategies available to enhance teachers job performance in public secondary schools. This study employed Herzberg Two Factor Theory, Maslow (Need theory) and Adams' Equity Theory. Descriptive research design was used in this study. The population of this study comprised of the teachers that was selected from various public secondary from Arusha City Council. For the purpose of this study the sample size of 86 respondents. The study used both primary and secondary data. Primary data was collected using self-administered questionnaire. The secondary data was obtained through reviewing different books, journals, articles, websites and reports. The data gathered were coded and evaluated in version 25 of the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. Findings indicated a positive correlation between the Intrinsic Factors and the teachers job performance. Also, findings unveiled that, there was also a strong positive correlation between Extrinsic Factors and teachers job performance. Moreover, findings of this study revealed that, there was a positive correlation between motivational strategies and teachers job performance. This study recommends that, studies on factors hindering the performance of teachers in public secondary schools should also be conducted. en_US
