dc.description.abstract This study sought to assess factors influencing the implementation of SDG 3 in the health sector. The specific objectives of the study were to determine the influence of financial and human resources on the implementation of SDG 3 in health sector; to find out the influence of procurement process on the implementation of SDG 3 in the health sector and; to ascertain the influence of leadership practice on the implementation of SDG 3 in health sector. The study used cross sectional design and mixed research approach. In addition to that, a sample of 55 participants was drawn using simple random and purposive sampling techniques. The study used questionnaire and interview for data collection methods and thereafter descriptive and content data analyses approach. The findings indicated that, despite some financial deficit towards the accomplishment of various projects at the district hospital, some improvements are evident in the increase of fund to ensure human security in health sector is guaranteed in in line with SDG 3. The study further indicated a presence of procurement process at Wanging'ombe district despite some shortfalls such as lack of e-procurement practices and decentralized procurement process within the health sector. Furthermore, the study revealed some government support to achieve SDG 3 which deals with health issues. The study concludes that, budgetary allocation, procurement process and leadership practice are necessary factors in the implementation of SDG 3 in health sector. The study recommends for the district to find out alternative sources of income that could support and enhance health service delivery for human security. In addition to that, the study recommends for the district to deploy e-procurement system so as to facilitate procurement activities for human security as per the SDG 3. en_US
