dc.description.abstract The study was carried out to examine the influence of refugee influx on the security threats in Tanzania. The specific objectives of the study were: To examine the refugees Influx on individual, community, and national security threat: to find out the extent to which the current refugee policy address. Refugees threats to security, and; to determine mechanisms employed by the government of Tanzania to address security threats caused by refugees influx. The study used a cross-sectional research design as the research design and on the other hand, simple random sampling technique to select 114 respondents. Both primary data and secondary data were used while a questionnaire was used to gather data from respondents. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis with the aid of Ms-Excel and the qualitative data was analyzed by using content analysis. The study revealed that loss of properties; community tension, security tension, and environmental security are the effects of the refugee influx. The study found that current refugees policy is crucial to address issues related to refugees' threats to national security. Also, the policy does allow the local community to participate in the reception, initial screening. and provision of temporary asylum to new arrivals prior to being transferred to designated areas. The study establish. that, without the refugees' policy. it is hard to deal with security issues that are caused by refuge.. The study noted further that, the government has taken measures to deal with the security risks played by refugees. In connection with that, the ministry responsible for refuges is doing a At A manage the security risks and respondents are satisfied with the strategies taken by the government to address the threats caused by refugees The study concludes that refugees' influx could have an effect on national security if the government does not take and implement various strategies Including policy action. The study recommends that the government should continue enhancing the implementation of the policy. en_US
