dc.description.abstract Any institution must have access to data. Information security now includes safeguarding vital information property from security threats as one of the essential operational requirements for any company, especially Government organizations. Despite the high adoption of technology by the Tanzanian government in its service delivery, studies have yet to establish the factors affecting data privacy in government institutions in Tanzania. This research sought to exploit this research gap. This study tried to identify the factors influencing data privacy in Governmental organizations in Tanzania. The research mainly focused on three factors; political, technological and consumer factors. The public sector has yet to be studied in most of the data privacy research discussed in the literature review. Due to this, little is known about the factors affecting data privacy in the public sector. This research relied on primary data which is collected from the employees. The study relied on two Government agencies; Dodoma City Council and Moshi Municipal Council in Tanzania. The staff can state how various factors affect data privacy through questionnaires. The collected data was analyzed through the SPSS platform to develop themes and findings. The research has established that political, technological and consumer factors significantly impact data privacy in Government institutions. It is also established that insufficient data privacy laws guide government institutions. Thus, the Tanzania Government must show more vibrant legislation and conduct user awareness education. Generally, the research went through smoothly, with the respondents highly cooperating in the research procedure. The research has made a landmark as the first study highlighting the factors that affect data privacy in government institutions in Tanzania. This serves as a background for future studies on the same en_US
