dc.description.abstract The focus of the study was to assess the motivating factors for the adoption of ICT among government institutions in Tanzania. Specific objectives were: - To assess the motivations of attitude on the adoption of ICT at Arusha Regional Immigration Office; To examine the motivations of social environment on the adoption of ICT at Arusha Regional Immigration Office and to analyse the motivations of facilitating conditions on the adoption of ICT at Arusha Regional Immigration Office. Two research designs were used in this study, descriptive research design and exploratory research design. The study also adopted a quantitative research approach where a questionnaire and documentation were used to collect data from immigration employees at the regional immigration office in Arusha. Stratified sampling was used to ensure sample representation among employees from different sections, age and their respective designations. Thereafter, simple random sampling was used to pick a sample size of 90 respondents from the strata developed. Analysis of the data was performed using the descriptive analysis method. Data coding was done through Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), a computer software. The study findings unveiled that there are different factors such as perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness that move in-line with the institutions attitude, also fellow workers, seniors and fellow subordinates move in-line with social environment. However factors such as low cost of ICT devices, conducive policies, availability of accessories and power sustainability that move in- line with facilitating conditions are of great contribution to the adoption of ICTamong government institutions. It is recommended that research be carried out to focus on qualitative aspect in order to increase the exploratory aspect of institutions adoption of ICT in Tanzania. Also future study xiii should be done involve more than one government institution and further study should be carried out using larger sample size. en_US
