dc.description.abstract This study indented to examine the use of internal organization communication as motivational strategy on employees’ performance in Bariadi district. The objectives of the study were to: investigate the use of internal organization communication practices as motivational strategy on employees’ performance in Bariadi district; examine the effectiveness of internal organization communication channels as motivational strategy in improving employees’ performance in Bariadi district and explore the challenges of internal organization communication as motivational strategy in improving employees’ performance in Bariadi district. The study was qualitative research in nature and was guided by case study design. Data were collected by using semi-structured interview; focus group discussion and documentary review. Non-probabilistic sampling techniques including: purposive and purposive random sampling in selecting different respondents was employed. The study used the population of one hundred and fourteen (114) employees from human resource and administration department while the sample size comprised thirty four (34) participants and data were analyzed by content analysis technique. The findings of the study disclosed that downward and upward communication were ineffective practices and had low contribution on employees’ performance as motivational strategies due to inadequate information provided and limited time for handling the assigned task, and lack of venues for conducting meetings where employees could give out their views direct to top management. In addition, the findings established that at least peer-peer communication practice had contribution on improving employees’ performance and organization productivity since it encouraged team work and information was shared among employees with the same level and rank. Also, the findings indicated that there were different internal organization communication channel including meetings, electronic and written communication channels. Whereas, the findings revealed that written communication channel and some electronic communication channels like telephones and whatsapp were used mostly while meetings and other electronics channels such as internets, emails and websites as communication channels were not employed. On the other hand the findings established that there were various challenges associated with internal organization communication and some of them were: poor interment and information and communication technology, shortage of ICT resources such as computer, lack of venues which hinder the meetings and leakage of information in the organization. These challenges were reported to affect employees’ performance in the organization. Furthermore, the findings of the study recommended that; there should establishment of strong interment access for speeding the transfer of information and encouraging the effective use of electronic communication channels. Similarly, the study recommended the construction of venue for meeting that will allow all employees to participate and give out their views. en_US
