| dc.description.abstract | The study examined the design and implementation strategy of community-based water supply organizations at project level in Mlele District, Katavi Region. The study was guided by game/participatory theory in order to understand the design and implementation strategy of community-based water supply organizations at project level. The researcher adopted a mixed method approach which combined both, quantitative and qualitative approaches. The study included a total of 121 respondents as sample size. Purposive sampling technique was applied to select respondents who were information rich cases in the study area. Data were collected using questionnaires, interviews and focused group discussion. Findings indicated that project design and implementation affect the performance of water projects as they lack support, poor sustenance, poor financial management and inadequate stakeholders’ involvement. The study recommended that community-based water projects should be designed in such a way that the entire community is directly involved from the initial state to the implementation stage. The study further recommended that before stating any community-based water projects, the entire community should be given awareness on the purpose of the project, the government roles in the project and the role of the community in the project. | en_US |
