dc.description.abstract This paper presents the magnitudes of risks management practices toward the project’s performance in higher learning institutions in Tanzania. Descriptive research design was used to investigate anonymised case study. Standard modified questionnaires and interview guides were administered to the possessively selected respondents. Content analysis and SPSS software were used for qualitative and quantitative data analysis respectively. Results reveal that, there were significant different approaches in the application of risk management practices among higher learning institutions. It was also found that, although there was a general understanding about risk and its implications in project performance, the application of risk management tactics, particularly in higher learning institutions were relatively low. Since project risk management is of particular important in execution of projects, there must be special attention in risk mitigation, planning and management for successful project performance. en_US
