dc.description.abstract This study was carried out to assess the influence of training on employees’ performance in higher learning institutions using Tengeru Institute of Community Development as a case study. This study employed herzberg two factor theory. To achieve the main objective of the study, descriptive survey research design was used. The total number of the target population was 125 and the sample size for this study comprised of all 125 employees from TICD. Purposive sampling technique was employed in selecting sample of this study. The study applied a mixed methods approach. In gathering data from respondents, closed ended questionnaires, interview and documentary review were used. Qualitative data was analysed using content analysis whereas quantitative data was analysed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics provided by SPSS. Findings indicated that trainees are placed on a specific job and taught the skills and knowledge necessary to perform it and there is movement of trainee from one job to another to gain knowledge and experience to a large extent. Additionally, the study recommends that more research should be done to investigate the problems and quality of staff training for organizational growth. en_US
