SARIA, Rodrick
This study examined the influence of the working environment on employee performance,
focusing on selected institutions in Tanzania. The specific objectives were to: (i) examine
the effect of physical working conditions on employee performance; (ii) assess the
influence of leadership and communication practices on employee performance; and (iii)
evaluate the impact of motivation and organizational support on employee performance.
The study adopted a quantitative research design, using structured questionnaires
administered to employees selected through stratified and simple random sampling. Data
were analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 27,
employing descriptive statistics (frequencies, means, and standard deviations) and
inferential statistics (multiple linear regression analysis) to test the study hypotheses. The
regression results revealed a strong and significant relationship between the working
environment variables and employee performance (R = 0.684; R² = 0.468; p < 0.001). All
predictors physical working conditions (β = 0.298, p < 0.001), leadership and
communication practices (β = 0.337, p < 0.001), and motivation and organizational
support (β = 0.241, p = 0.003) had positive and statistically significant effects on
performance. The study concluded that a favourable working environment significantly
enhances employee productivity, commitment, and job satisfaction. It recommends that
management strengthen workplace infrastructure, improve communication and leadership
practices, and promote motivational initiatives to sustain high performance and
organizational effectiveness

THE CONTRIBUTION OF STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT PRACTICES ON IMMIGRATION SERVICE EFFICIENCY IN TANZANIA
MFUSE, Theresia
This study investigated the contribution of strategic management practices with
regard to the efficiency of immigration services at Tunduma One Stop Border Post
(OSBP) in Tanzania. Specifically, the study examined the strategic management
practices adopted, the experiences and perceptions of immigration officers regarding
their effectiveness, and the challenges encountered during implementation. In
essence, a qualitative research design was employed, involving 34 purposively
selected participants comprising of 12 immigration officers, 8 strategic planners and
14 managerial staff. Patently, pertinent data were collected through semi-structured
interviews along with the documentary review. Subsequently, the collected data were
analyzed using both thematic and content analysis in order to identify recurring
patterns and insights. Evidently, the study findings revealed three key thematic areas
aligned with the study objectives. First and foremost, the strategic management
practices in place included strategic planning, technology adoption in conjunction
with the performance monitoring and evaluation, all of which contributed to the
improved operational efficiency and coordination. Besides, immigration officers
perceived these practices as effective in enhancing workflow, reducing service delays
and offering structured guidance through training, clear procedures and continuous
support. Moreover, the implementation process faced challenges such as operational
constraints, bureaucratic bottlenecks and limited resources, which hindered optimal
service delivery. Apparently, the study concludes that, strategic management
practices play a pivotal role in strengthening immigration service efficiency by
providing clear operational direction, integrating digital systems, and promoting
accountability. However, sustained improvement requires addressing resource gaps,
reducing bureaucratic delays and enhancing inter-departmental coordination.
Substantively, the study recommends that, there should be an increased investment in
technology, continuous staff capacity-building and implementation of administrative
reforms so as to streamline processes. Future research should consider comparative
analyses across multiple border posts and examine the long-term impacts of strategic
management interventions on immigration service delivery.

ANDINDILILE, Hadija
This study examined the factors affecting the performance of the community policy
strategy on crime prevention in Muheza District Council. It specifically examined the
effects of Training/Education Programs, to determine the effect of Trust between
Community Members, to examine the effects of Community Members’ Meetings, and to
assess the effect of Operational Resources on the Performance of Community policing in
Crime Prevention. The study employed, namely Community-Oriented Policing Theory
and Problem-Oriented Policing Theory. The study was quantitative in nature and used a
cross-sectional research design. The targeted population was 65,622, and the sample size
was 226 as obtained from Krejcie and Morgan (1970). The researcher also employed a
stratified sampling technique to select the participants for this study. Data was collected
using questionnaire and then were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social
Sciences (SPSS V26). The results revealed that Training/Education Programs (TEP): B =
0.420, p = 0.001), indicating that training positively affects community police
performance. Also Trust in the Community (TCM): B = 0.640, p < 0.001 meaning that
building trust is crucial for effective community policing. Also Community Meetings
(CMM): B = 0.491, p = 0.003, contribute significantly to performance. Lastly, Operational
Resources (ORE): B = 0.542, p < 0.001. Based on these findings, the study recommends
that Police Force should update and improve community policing training programs. The
study also recommends that transparency, respect for one another, and responsibility
should be actively promoted in order to increase the level of trust between police personnel
and the community.

THOMAS, Herman
This study examined the effect of corporate strategy on the financial performance of
commercial banks in Tanzania, with a particular focus on CRDB Bank in Arusha City.
Guided by the Strategic Management Theory, the study adopted a pragmatism research
philosophy and employed a mixed-methods approach, combining both quantitative and
qualitative techniques. A descriptive research design was used, targeting a population of
115 employees, from which a sample of 89 respondents was selected using stratified and
purposive sampling techniques. Primary data were collected through structured
questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, while secondary data were obtained from
documentary reviews, including institutional records and credible online sources.
Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and qualitative data were
analyzed thematically. The study investigated the effects of market share growth strategy,
operational efficiency and stability strategy, and revenue improvement strategy on the
financial performance of CRDB Bank. Findings revealed that market share growth
strategies including customer acquisition, market penetration, product innovation, and
competitive positioning positively influenced profitability, customer satisfaction, and
competitiveness. Operational efficiency and stability strategies, encompassing process
optimization, resource management, staff competence development, performance
monitoring, and consistent service delivery, enhanced productivity, cost control, and
financial sustainability. Revenue improvement strategies, such as income diversification,
interest rate optimization, customer-focused pricing, and innovative product offerings,
contributed significantly to revenue growth and operational resilience. Overall, CRDB
Bank demonstrated strong financial performance supported by profitability, diversified
revenue streams, operational efficiency, and effective credit risk management. The study
concludes that the strategic focus on growth, efficiency, and revenue enhancement has
positioned CRDB Bank as a leading financial institution in Tanzania. It recommends that
commercial banks strengthen customer acquisition and retention, optimize operational
processes, diversify income sources, adopt innovation-driven practices, and leverage
digital banking to sustain competitiveness and long-term financial performance. Future
research is suggested to examine the impact of corporate strategies across multiple banks
and assess the long-term effects of strategic interventions on financial performance
